A £450K landmark reception in Aldgate: 70 sq m rebuilt in 12 weeks, working overnight with no disruption to tenants.
Portsoken House was once an abandoned warehouse. Craftex’s team of designers and construction professionals turned that unloved space into a bright, vibrant and welcoming hub of productivity.
Once the offices were complete, we created a reception worthy of its Aldgate address, one of the capital’s most sought-after locations for commercial tenants.

Craftex spent more than seven months transforming Portsoken House. We completely refurbished the offices on the second and eighth floors before turning our attention to the reception.
A modern, welcoming reception worthy of a prime address
The reception is the first impression of the building for tenants, prospective tenants and visitors, so we worked closely with our client to create a premium entrance that reflects the highly desirable location and the restored property’s luxurious appeal.
Working outside office hours, through the night and at weekends, so building tenants were never interrupted, our team designed and rebuilt this impactful 70 sq m reception in 12 weeks.
To make the best use of every square metre, we carried out a series of key structural changes while respecting the building’s original features.
These included rebuilding the lift surrounds facing the reception, installing a new shop window that floods the space with natural light, and fitting a new ladder.
We also re-plastered the walls for a sleek, smooth finish and installed modern light fittings.
Premium Italian stone tiles were supplied and fitted, alongside bespoke joinery crafted by a master craftsman.
